Texas House

Situated in a downtown neighborhood that is experiencing a reinterest and revival, the owners were interested in making a number of significant improvements to this home that had been used as student housing for a number of years. In addition to infrastructural work such as reroofing, water, HVAC and electrical upgrades, programmatic additions were necessary such as a true foyer and front end closet, as well as a screened-in side porch.

SPRINGBOARD designed a pair of “wings” that attach to the existing structure – their sloped roofs complement the existing architectural vocabulary but modernize the overall composition. A true entry sequence is created and, when combined with the renovation to the kitchen that involves opening it up to the living room with a central bar eating area, produces a centralized organization that meets modern living needs.

The improvements have been designed to be phased in, according to owner needs.
