Walls
Walls was a site specific art installation created by Paul Rosenblatt as a part of the 1998 Pittsburgh Center for the Arts “Environments” exhibition curated by Robert Raczka. Inland Architect (vol. 114) wrote: “Rosenblatt structured his room via 4′x8′modules. His intention was to reify nature by reassessing building materials and inverting interior and exterior space. However, the process was also an evaluation of masculine voice, as it has affirmed specific ‘muscular’ forms and compositional logic in architecture and sculpture. Four walls were largely covered by 8′x16′ assemblages of sheet aluminum, polished homasote, plywood, and burnished masonite panels. Just off center stood an 8 ft. column constructed with small rectangular mirrors. Each of the walls functioned as a demonstration of the distinct beauty and integrity of materials that are inexpensive and industrial.”
