“The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announces the opening of JOHN RIEGERT, curated by Brett Yasko. The 250 portraits of John Riegert have been developed through sessions spanning over nearly two years and hosted at studios, coffee shops, parks, museums, riverbanks, universities, cemeteries, artists’ homes and John’s own home as well. The work in the exhibit ranges from paintings to sculptures to conceptual pieces to performances to photographs to films and videos.”

Participating Artists include Paul Rosenblatt of Springboard Design.

Springboard Design’s Creative Director, Petra Fallaux, has been selected as one of three jurors for Quilt National ’17, the 20th biennial juried exhibition of innovative art quilts. The exhibition, located in Athens, OH, will be open to the public May 28th 2017 through September 4, 2017; visitors will see a collection of never before exhibited works from talented fiber artists representing states and foreign countries.

More than 6,000 visitors are expected from all over the world to see Quilt National ‘17. Although parts of the collection will travel to museums and galleries throughout the country until late 2018, the Dairy Barn Arts Center, located in Athens at 8000 Dairy Lane, is the only exhibition venue where visitors can view the complete collection.

We hope you will join us for the opening of the latest art exhibit, juried by Springboard Design Creative Director Petra Fallaux and Patricia Maurides on Friday, November 13, 2015, 5:30-9 p.m. at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts Pittsburgh PA 15232.

The Pittsburgh Society of Artists is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a strong exhibit in the first floor galleries of the Pittsburgh Center of the Arts. Petra Fallaux and Patricia Maurides selected 55 works of art by 47 artists from a pool of 200 pieces of art submitted by 106 artists. Four artists chosen by the jurors will receive awards at the reception.


This Halloween, Springboard Design’s “local vinyl legend” Paul Rosenblatt joins Pete K. behind the decks to bring you a set of vintage pop and soul on 45s and LPs that is guaranteed to make you move, with songs from young, hip whippersnappers like Otis Redding, James Brown, Diana Ross and the Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, the Beatles, the Surfaris, the Beach Boys (Capital), and many, many more.

What:  Night of the Living Dead 60s Soul, Pop and Surf Dance Party
When:  Saturday, October 31, Open at 3 p.m.;
Soul Dance Party from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Where:  The Independent (1704-1706 Shady Ave)
Cost:  FREE ADMISSION; $3 Tacos at starting at 9 p.m. to Midnight

From 3-9 p.m., it’s business as usual at the Independent, with normal hours and dinner service.  Then, at 9 p.m., the dining room will be cleared to make room for you to do the watusi, the mashed-potato, the shake, the hitchhike, the Madison, or whatever 60s novelty dance is your move of choice.

Creator Square is on a roll, and the conversation continues at the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums (MAAM) 2015 Annual Conference in Philadelphia, PA on Friday, October 23rd (2:15-3:30)

Paul Rosenblatt and a panel of the Creator Square team will present “Crafting Community: Building Living Studios and a New Maker Network.” Speakers include Donald M. Bonk (Principal, Good Future Innovation), Angela Rizzo (Executive Director, Bottleworks Art Center & Museum), and Mike Kane (President, Community Foundation for the Alleghenies).

The MAAM 2015 Annual Conference brings together a broad cross-section of professionals to share their experiences in building and expanding communities, improving collaborations, accessing new fiscal resources, developing entrepreneurial techniques, creating inclusive experiences and more.

Over the course of many years, Springboard Design has been responsible for developing Creator Square Johnstown, establishing the program for an artisan residency community, and designing the renovations to the new center in Johnstown, PA. Creator Square Johnstown is a key component of the city’s growing artisan population- stimulating urban revitalization, economic development, and job-skills training by engaging community members with new economy makers. Paul recently presented at Pittsburgh’s Maker Faire 2015, a community-based learning event which features local innovations in technology, art, craft, electronics, engineering, and other projects.

This weekend, Springboard Design’s Paul Rosenblatt will be presenting “Building Living Studios and a New Maker Network” as part of the over 200 exhibits, performances, and presentations showcased at the 2015 Pittsburgh Maker Faire.

The focus of the presentations, held from 2:00-2:20 Saturday or 3:30-3:50 Sunday, will be the development of Creator Square Johnstown, an artisan residency community based in Johnstown, PA. Springboard Design is responsible for having established the center and designing its renovations. Creator Square Johnstown is a key component of the city’s growing artisan population- stimulating urban revitalization, economic development, and job-skills training by engaging community members with new economy makers.

Maker Faire is a community-based learning event that inspires everyone to become a maker! The Faire features technology, art, craft, electronics, engineering, and other projects created by makers themselves, including student projects, robotics, 3D printers and CNC mills, textile arts and crafts, home energy monitoring, rockets and R/C toys, sustainability, green tech, radios, vintage computers and game systems, electronics, electric vehicles, biology/biotech and chemistry projects, puppets, kites, bicycles, unusual tools or machines and more.

Recalling his popular ‘Well Played: Paul’s Vinyl Records’ art+sound installation featured in last fall’s Pittsburgh Biennial exhibition, Paul’s well-played records are exclusively vintage vinyl.

Get down with Paul to an especially funky set from greats like Roy Ayers,  Earth, Wind & Fire, and The Brothers Johnson…
